University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Welcome to the April 2017 issue of the ECE Newsletter from the University of Houston. As the semester comes to a close I am excited to share the remarkable accomplishments of our faculty, students and industry partners. An NSF-funded center has been established at UH to bring together academia and industry to find new solutions to neural diseases and injuries. The BRAIN Center (Building Reliable Advances and Innovation in Neurotechnology) will be led by electrical and computer engineering professor Jose Luis Contreras-Vidal and researchers from Arizona State University, who will work with industry to speed new neural technologies to market. And, in an incredible accomplishment by our students, our IEEE student branch has been named the best in the region by the national organization for their programs in community engagement and student success.

Read more below to find how ECE is in the news, how our students are succeeding, and how we are engaged with the Houston community!
