Mr. Thompson is currently the Director of RF and Emerging Technology at LivaNova, a global medical technology company that develops technology to treat cardiovascular and neurological disorders. He has 20 years of experience in the medical device field, both as a manager and as an engineer, developing a variety of products that range from simple surgical tools to heart valves, complex active implantable neuromodulators and left ventricular assist devices. His background and expertise is in the area of biomedical engineering and his work has included many different traditional engineering disciplines. The majority of his recent work has been in the areas of electrical and RF design, though his earlier work was in fluid and solid mechanics. Previous to working in the medical industry, he worked for 5 years in the aerospace industry.
Thompson received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton, and his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Ohio State University.
